Feliz Ano Nuevo! On Saturday, December 31, ZOCALO Restaurant and Tequila Bar will host a festive fete that includes three celebratory dining and beverage choices: traditional a la carte dinner service, a dinner and drinks package (with three courses, specialty cocktails, live music, DJ, dancing and Midnight tequila toast) and a three-hour, bar only package.

Dinner Service
Table reservations are offered at 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Zocalo’s complete dinner menu (and specials) will be available.

Dinner and Drinks Package
With seatings offered at both 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the create-your-own, three course dinner will include any appetizer, entree and dessert from Zocalo’s special New Year’s Eve dinner menu. This dinner package also includes beer, house wine and margaritas (traditional, passion-mango, blood orange, prickly pear or hibiscus flower). The price is $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Three Hour Drink Package
For those looking to simply enjoy cocktails, a three-hour bar package will be offered from 9:00 p.m. – Midnight. The libations include beer, house wine and margaritas (traditional, passion-mango, blood orange, prickly pear or hibiscus flower). This option is priced at $30 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Entertainment
The Latin band “Jugo de Mango” will perform live, starting at 9 p.m., followed by a DJ spinning Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms until 2 a.m. As the clock strikes midnight, a Don Julio tequila toast and party favors will be enjoyed by all. Zocalo will offer a cash bar until 2 a.m. and Don Julio drink specials will be featured all night.

Bootlegger’s Ball III: Vegas Edition

New Year’s Eve at The Red Canary

This New Year’s Eve marks the third annual “Bootlegger’s Ball” at The Red Canary. Following in past tradition, the evening will embody a Vegas-like feel complete with two floors of (play money) casino gaming: three blackjack tables, two craps tables and one roulette table, complete with dealers.

Upon arriving, guests wishing to “strike-it-rich” will receive $5,000 in gambling money. The individual that collects the most winnings by the end of the night will be awarded a 42-inch plasma HD flat screen television! Other gamblers don’t dismay, many other prizes will be given out throughout the night.

Complimentary passed appetizers and DJ-spun music will kick-off the high-energy evening at 9 p.m., which is also the time the premium open bar begins (package ends at 3 a.m.). The top shelf bar service will include Red Bull, premium liquors, cocktails, beer, wine and shots. As 2012 approaches, a complimentary champagne toast will be served, along with roarin’ 20s party favors. The fee per couple is $150, individual guests are $80.

For revelers looking to dine before getting lucky in the casino, Chef Daniel Tolentino has created a pre-party, “Golden Nugget” dinner menu that is only available to those attending the 2011 “Bootlegger’s Ball: Vegas Edition” bash. Table reservations may be made between 7 and 8 p.m. The four course menu is priced at $30 per guest. (Hint: this is a great way to secure a booth or table for the entire night!)

Once all of the holiday hoopla dies down, it’s time to treat yourself to a festive meal to commence the new year. To get 2011 off to a sumptuous start, Nacional 27 is offering a special three-course prix fixe menu priced at $20.11 per person.

Featuring some of the River North Latin hot spot’s signature dishes, such as smoked chicken empanadas, grilled marinated skirt steak and Gunthorp Farms suckling pig, Nacional 27’s 2011 prix fixe menu is an affordable way to celebrate new beginnings.

The “Feliz Año Nuevo” menu will be served Monday through Thursday during regular restaurant hours (Monday through Wednesday 5-9:30 p.m.; Thursday 5-11 p.m.) from January 3 to February 24, 2011.

New Year’s Eve at Blokes & Birds

Prix Fixe Menu with Optional Pairings

Blokes & Birds, the contemporary English gastropub located in Lakeview, has readied their plans for New Year’s Eve. Dining guests will select one of the three seatings (5:30, 7:30 and 9:30) and will be offered Executive Chef Greg Cannon’s prix fixe menu. Dinner will start with an amuse, followed by four courses.

New Year’s celebrants may choose to have their meal paired with libations. Optional beverage pairings are available for an additional $25 fee, which includes a wine, beer and craft cocktail. First floor and lower level bar guests may enjoy the large selection of drinks and a limited menu will be available.

Reservations may be made by calling Blokes & Birds. Communal/group dining is offered in addition to traditional tables. Tax and gratuity is not included in the prix fixe menu.

Shiraz on the Water, a stylish and vibrant restaurant located in Bloomingdale, will welcome dining guests for a celebratory, five course prix fixe menu this New Year’s Eve. Chef Carol Buckantz has included such items as a warm, wild mushroom and spinach salad, crab bisque and rack of lamb. The special menu is $45 per person and includes a flute of champagne.

Shiraz on the Water features contemporary American cuisine with a scenic water view. The lounge area is the perfect place to sip a wine flight or glass pour that best seduces your palate. The restaurant provides the perfect combination of ambiance, great food and global wines, which is what every celebration needs.

The regular menu will also be offered. Tax and gratuity is not included in the five course dinner.

On Friday, December 31, Timothy O’Toole’s Pub, located below-ground at Ontario and Fairbanks in Streeterville, will offer new year’s eve celebrants an affordable way to ring in 2011.

A $15 entry charge will include the choice of “the champagne of beers” (one 24 ounce Miller High Life) or a champagne split, along with an appetizer buffet at midnight, open play pool tables and party favors. This new year’s eve event will make for one of the best deals downtown.

The live countdown will be shown on 60 screens throughout the Pub and party tunes will keep the social gathering going ’til 3:00am.
