Michael Diversey’s Tavern, an official “Chicago Blackhawks bar,” celebrates the beginning of Blackhawks season with two game viewing events, complete with raffle prizes, giveaways and drink specials.

First, on Friday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m., the restaurant will kick off the Blackhawks season with an opening night celebration, featuring a complimentary champagne toast, raffle for prizes (including items signed by Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull), grand goal celebrations and more. Michael Diversey’s is officially bringing the United Center to the tavern’s fans with 23-ounce Big Bud Lights ($5, available on game days throughout the season).

Then, on Thursday, October 20, Michael Diversey’s will host the “Blackhawks City Roadwatch Night” at 8 p.m. Created to offer Hawks fans living in the city a central location to watch their favorite team on the road, this event will include all the fun of a Hawks home game, including the Bud Light Ice Crew Girls, Blackhawks merchandise giveaways, intermission contest and goal celebrations. 23-ounce, Big Bud Lights will be available for $5 (served on game days throughout the season).

Michael Diversey’s Tavern will air all Chicago Blackhawks games, with sound, all season long.

“Festa Della Porchetta” at Due Lire

Italian-Style Pig Roast in the Garden

Due Lire in Lincoln Square will host “Festa Della Porchetta,” an Italian-style, fall pig roast, on Sunday, October 9 from 3-7 p.m. Executive Chef Kevin Abshire will prepare a whole pig, first stuffed with fennel, sage, garlic, salt and pepper, then slow-roasted for hours in Due Lire’s beautiful, backyard garden patio. The porchetta will be served with an apricot and truffle demi-glace, along with several savory side dishes (listed below) for $25 per person. Three beers from Andersonville’s Metropolitan Brewing Company will be available to pair with the pork, either as a flight ($10) or by the bottle ($4).

Dine Around Prix Fixe Promotion Runs through September 25

Four Course Menu, $55
The Bon Appétit and Chicago Gourmet “Dine Around” is a fun way to earn a complimentary one-day general admission ticket to Chicago Gourmet ($150 value). To receive the free ticket, dine at five of the participating Dine Around restaurants, including Elate, now through September 25.

Participants will then bring all five receipts in the official Dine Around receipt holder (available at the participating restaurants) to the registration table at Chicago Gourmet. Guests will have their choice of admission on Saturday, September 25 or Sunday, September 26, and will have access to all tasting pavilions, cooking demos, seminars and book signings. Only one person will be admitted per ticket.

Executive Chef Mike Noll has created a four course menu, priced at $55 (outlined below).

Fourth Annual “Chefs on the Grill” Event To Benefit The Special Olympics

Local Chefs Participate in Cooking Competition for Charity

The Plaza at Park Grill will host the fourth annual “Chefs on the Grill” event on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 6-9pm. Fifteen chefs from restaurants in and around the Millennium Valley neighborhood will come together in camaraderie while participating in a grilling competition for charity. This year’s event will raise money for The Special Olympics.

Each chef will create a dish of their choice and attendees will taste samples of each dish and vote for their favorite. The winning chef will receive a Chefs on the Grill trophy and, of course, bragging rights until next year’s event.

Michael Diversey’s, a newly opened tavern in the former Firkin and Pheasant building, is located on Diversey Parkway. The tavern (and street) are named in honor of Michael Diversey, the dairy man, brewer, philanthropist and alderman that started Lill & Diversey Brewery in 1841, widely known as The Chicago Brewery. St. Michael’s Church sits upon land that Diversey once donated to fellow German immigrants.

The classic Chicago tavern has unveiled a bevy of beverage and dining deals for each day of the week. In addition to the craft brew night, one local/regional small batch beer is featured everyday.

Fine Vines Wine Dinner at Quince Restaurant

Fine Vines representative, Frederick Brown, along with in-house wine director, Scott Quint, will lead a three-course wine dinner on July 28. Fine Vines is a local company that imports and distributes artisanal wines.

Starting at 6:30 p.m, wine dinner guests will enjoy a welcome reception, followed by dinner and a discussion of wine. The menu, created by Chef Andy Motto, is below.

Please call Brenna at Quince restaurant to reserve a place at this event. Tax and gratuity is not included in the $65 fee.
