New Dinner Menu and New Bar Program at LOKaL

Contemporary Polish Cuisine in Wicker Park

LOKaL, a modern, European-inspired restaurant and lounge located in Wicker Park has recently released a new winter menu with Polish ingredients and flavors. Dinner fare features contemporary Polish cuisine prepared with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients and the restaurant will now offer in-house smoked and cured meats. The menu was conceptualized by LOKaL’s proprietors, Art Wnorowski and Gosia Pieniazek, who are a married couple with Polish heritage. Newly appointed Chef de Cuisine Rubin Torres (Epic, Bin 36, Sushi Samba Rio) will execute the dishes, available nightly (Monday-Thursday 5:00pm-10:00pm, Friday-Saturday 5:00pm-11:30pm and Sunday 5:00pm-10:00pm). Some of the new offerings include beet soup, slow roasted boczek, smoky polish kielbasa, steak tartar, goat cheese risotto, bison strip steak and bigos stew with venison loin. The bar program at LOKaL has also been revised. New signature cocktails (both chilled and warmed) feature creative combinations of Polish spirits. An expanded list of Polish vodkas are available in three formats (shoot, rocks, martini). The wine list offers only European varietals and the beer list, both bottled and draught, is comprised of European and Polish brews. Drink menus are listed below.

A classic Meursault nose of milled grain and lightly-toasted hazelnut, along with fresh lemon and orange peel, mint, and green tea lead to a palate that is at once subtly creamy, oily, and honeyed, but also refreshingly citric and invigoratingly zesty and spicy in its long finish.

70% Garnacha, 30% Merlot, aged in French and American Oak for 12months.  A plush, round wine with bouquet of ripe berries with sweet tannins expanding into layers of spice, mineral and dry herbs.

Distinctive with a strong, racy graphite underpinning carrying the raspberry ganache, spice, incense and sweet olive notes through a long, fine-grained finish.

Gorgeous swathes of red fruit, seductive on the nose, allied to fresh violets and hints of wild blackberry. A bright acidity refreshes the wine on the finish.
