Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire: Smoke Daddy Welcomes a New Addition

Name the Restaurant’s New Smoker and Win a Barbecue Bash

Contest held Monday, June 14 – Wednesday, June 30
Free to participate

Wicker Park’s Smoke Daddy, which recently celebrated its 16th year in business, is welcoming a new addition to its team this summer. That’s right, the beloved Lil’ Red Smoker, which has been put to good use smoking all of the restaurant’s meats and veggies each day, has retired. It’s now time to say howdy to Smoke Daddy’s new smoker. The behemoth Southern Yankee smoker trailer, which is featured prominently in Smoke Daddy’s next-door parking lot, needs a name, and that’s where you come in.

The restaurant is holding a naming contest for their new (admittedly big) baby, going on Monday, June 14 through Wednesday, June 30. All participants have to do is stop in Smoke Daddy, jot down their name choice (three ideas per person maximum) and automatically be entered to win a prize fit for any barbecue devotee.

Smoke Daddy’s staff will select their favorite name for their new smoker, and the guest behind the winning moniker will be awarded for their efforts with a barbecue party for 20 people at Smoke Daddy. The new smoker, which uses the same blend of hickory, apple and cherry woods as its predecessor, will be put to the test during this tasty V.I.P. bash.

If you need naming inspiration, here are some impressive smoker stats:

  • The 5,000-lb. smoker trailer is 21 feet long, 9 feet high and 8 feet wide.
  • It consists of four individual rotisserie smokers and even has a built-in hand sink.
  • The new smoker can accommodate 216 8-lb. pork shoulders, 288 whole chickens or 432 ribs – all at one time!

Smoke Daddy is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 a.m.
