Think you’ve got what it takes to compete against one of Chicago’s best burgers? Fizz Bar & Grill, the laid-back Lakeview hangout known for its wildly popular lineup of 10-ounce prime sirloin beef and turkey burgers, invites you to test your mettle during its Burger Challenge. Because, as Fizz believes, “nobody beats our meat.”
Aspiring meat mavens should submit their beef or turkey burger recipe to Fizz via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Saturday, June 19. The restaurant’s kitchen will whip up mini versions of each burger for guests to try at Fizz’s Burger Challenge, which will take place on Sunday, June 6, 13 and 20, with the finals heating up on June 27.
Fizz chef/owner Weslie Bellini will lead a grilling class on the spacious outdoor patio each week from 1-2 p.m., followed by a tasting from 2-5 p.m. of the submitted burger recipes served alongside Fizz’s hallowed hamburger. Guests can build a platter for $3 per mini-burger sample, and wash it all down with $4 pints of Magic Hat No. 9 beer.
Each week’s victor will be awarded a $100 cash prize and a chance to compete at the June 27 finals. The grand-prize winner will receive $300, a trophy and a spot for their recipe on Fizz’s menu (not to mention burger bragging rights for life).
