Red Kiva Continues “The Revolving Door” Reading Series This May

Red Kiva, the West Loop’s most ahead-of-the-curve lounge, will continue “The Revolving Door,” a monthly reading series featuring poetry, cultural musings and music spun by DJ Bornswift. “The Revolving Door” events take place on the third Wednesday of every month, with the next installment of the series taking place on Wednesday, May 19. Each event begins with an open mic at 7:30 p.m., followed by the featured writers and performers at 8 p.m. 

“The Revolving Door” May event will feature readings by Chicago-based writers Larry O. Dean and Lauren Pretnar. Dean is a musician, poet, journalist and educator who describes himself as “Bob Dylan meets George Carlin.” Writer Pretnar also works within Chicago’s theater scene and is a full-time social worker. 

Red Kiva’s extensive cocktail, beer and wine list and specialty flatbread pizzas will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Red Kiva is open Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. and Saturday from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m.

The Revolving Door is the West Loop’s fashionable reading series of poetry and culture.  On the third Wednesday of each month, the group features poets, musicians, fictionists, artists and those in between.
