Louisville Comes to Lakeview at Fizz Bar and Grill

Annual Kentucky Derby Party Offers Complimentary Southern-Style Buffet, Mint Juleps and More

Saturday, May 1
3 p.m. (race begins at 5 p.m.)
No cost to attend

Fizz, the popular, laid-back bar and grill located in Lakeview, will host its sixth annual Kentucky Derby party on Saturday, May 1. The festivities feature plenty of Southern comfort and charm, including a complimentary buffet, plenty of mint juleps and prizes for the best hat and seersucker suit. In other words, it’s the next best thing to actually being at Churchill Downs.

The Derby party will kick off at 3 p.m., with the race beginning at 5 p.m. The complimentary buffet will showcase an array of Southern dishes and traditional Kentucky delicacies such as Burgoo stew, Benedictine sandwiches, succotash, hot browns and bourbon brownies. Refreshing mint juleps will be served in commemorative glasses from Churchill Downs priced at $10 each, $5 for refills.

And because it just wouldn’t be the Kentucky Derby without large, elaborate headwear, Fizz will bestow prizes upon the wearer of the best women’s hat, as well as honors for the best men’s seersucker suit.

Fizz Bar and Grill will air the Derby on its eight TV screens and indoor and outdoor sound system. The spacious beer garden will be open during the Kentucky Derby festivities, offering plenty of tables, couches, TVs and tenting in case the weather wreaks havoc on your Kentucky Derby fedora.

Fizz is open Monday and Tuesday 5 p.m.-1 a.m., Wednesday through Friday 5 p.m.-2 a.m., Saturday noon-3 a.m. and Sunday noon-midnight.
