Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar Celebrates Dia de la Madre

A Three-Course Feast, Special Kids’ Menu and Complimentary Mimosas for Mother’s Day

Bring the whole familia to Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar for a festive celebration this Dia de la Madre (a.k.a. Mother’s Day). On Sunday, May 9, the vibrant River North Mexican restaurant will offer a special three-course prix-fixe brunch for the occasion, which will be served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.  

The hearty brunch menu, which is priced at $22 per person (plus tax and gratuity), will entice with such favorite dishes as Zocalo’s famous guacamole and a variety of tacos, as well as Mexican spins on brunch classics like French toast and steak and eggs. Guests can choose an appetizer, entree and dessert. Zocalo’s full Mother’s Day brunch menu is detailed below.

Kids 12 and under can also enjoy a prix-fixe menu of their own, which is priced at $12 each. And all moms will get the V.I.P. treatment they deserve with complimentary mimosas during this unbeatable brunch.

Guacamole Tradicional
Freshly diced avocado mixed with tomatoes, red onion, cilantro and Serrano chiles, served with homemade totopos

Molletes con Chorizo
Grilled bolillo bread with a black bean spread, homemade chorizo and melted Chihuahua cheese, garnished with tomatillo salsa and pico de gallo

Torrejas de Pan con Platanos Borrachos
French toast with agave-rum caramelized bananas garnished with walnuts and fresh blueberries 

Sincronizadas Oaxaqueñas
Melted Oaxacan cheese, grilled ham, plantain and pineapple layered between crispy flour tortillas, topped with mole manchamanteles and garnished with toasted black and white sesame seeds

Platos Fuertes / Main Course

Carne Asada con Chilaquiles Rojos
Tequila-marinated skirt steak with red chilaquiles, served with a traditional tortilla casserole simmered in guajillo salsa, garnished with cilantro, onions, sour cream and fresco cheese and accompanied with “charro-style” beans 

Chile Relleno de Huevos con Chorizo
Roasted poblano chile stuffed with scrambled eggs and homemade chorizo, garnished with pico de gallo and served with refried black beans, Mexican rice and warm flour tortillas

Tacos de Cazuela
Three of the following choices served with whole black beans, homemade corn tortillas and salsas:
Barbacoa– Slowly braised guajillo chile-marinated beef 
Cochinita Pibil– Slowly braised pork marinated in chiles and Yucatan spices
Tinga de Pollo– Shredded chicken simmered in a tomato-chipotle sauce
Carnitas– Crispy duck confit with Ancho pepper-peanut salsa  

Huevos Rancheros
Two fried eggs served over crispy corn tortillas and topped with ranchera salsa, garnished with avocado and fresco cheese and accompanied with “charro-style” beans
Add grilled flank steak or chicken for $5

Torta Capitalina
Traditional Mexican sandwich with a chipotle-black bean spread, breaded chicken, homemade chorizo, grilled ham and panela cheese, served with seasoned home fries

Postres / Dessert

Rompope Tres Leches
Vanilla sponge cake soaked in a three-milk sauce and rompope, sprinkled with white chocolate shavings, almond whipped topping and fresh blueberries

Churros y Champurado
Traditional fried dough pastry snack drizzled with agave-mango syrup and served with a thick masa-based hot chocolate
