Pick Your Fiesta: Cinco de Mayo Celebrations Around Town

Mexican-Inspired Dishes, Drink Specials and Latin-Themed Entertainment
 
St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone, which means it must be time for Cinco de Mayo, that celebration of Mexican culture Americans go loco over. Chicago is no exception, with an array of Cinco de Mayo fiestas taking place around town. The following restaurants and lounges will be hosting events and specials on Wednesday, May 5 that are sure to make your Cinco de Mayo a fun and festive one.

Dunlays on Clark
The quintessential American neighborhood restaurant will transform into a Mexican cantina in honor of Cinco de Mayo on Wednesday, May 5. Drink specials will include $4 Pacifico beers and $3 shots of Cuervo. Chef Grant Slauterbeck will add several Mexican dishes to his menu for the occasion, including the following: 

Guacamole served with pico de gallo and tortilla chips, $7
Tres Sopes Braised pork shoulder, smoked chicken, pickled shrimp, $12
Skirt Steak Torta Marinated steak, braised red and green cabbage, tomato, Chihuahua fondue, guajillo-lime vinaigrette, $12
Posole Hominy, tortilla, avocado, queso fresca, $14
Dos Flans Mexican chocolate, brandy, caramel, berry, $7

Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar
The popular Lakeview spot will be serving up $3 bottles of Corona on Cinco de Mayo, as well as a spicy Mexican spin on the restaurant’s famous pizza, featuring ground beef, cheddar, Monterey jack cheese, onion, tomato, cilantro and refried beans for $9 each.

D.O.C. Wine Bar – Lombard
The sophisticated west suburban wine bar and bistro will offer its own Cinco de Mayo food and drink specials: a hearty chicken enchiladas plate served with rice and black beans for $12, as well as zesty margarita martinis for just $5 each.

Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery
Gather your amigos at the casual River North brewpub for $5 house margaritas and $4 Cinco de Mayo Cervezas (brewer’s selection of the day). In addition, Rock Bottom’s Mexican-inspired dishes, including Quesadilla Rolls, Titan Toothpicks and Smoked Chicken Enchiladas will keep the fiesta flowing. Then, make like a mariachi to perform during Rock Bottom’s karaoke, which takes place every Wednesday night from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club
The fun-loving Lakeview nightclub will commemorate Cinco de Mayo by serving up half-price margaritas and hosting Kit Kat Diva Jade, who will perform as Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and all of your favorite Latina musical superstars.
