It’s Easy Being Cheesy at Frasca Pizzeria and D.O.C. Wine Bar

National Cheese Fondue Day Means Plenty of Ooey, Gooey Goodness

Sunday, April 11
Fondue Trio ($9) available during regular restaurant hours

There’s nothing quite like the instant, indulgent satisfaction that comes from dipping into a steamy hot pot of cheese fondue. In fact, so many people are fascinated with fondue, it has its own annual holiday. If you’re wondering where you can celebrate National Cheese Fondue Day on Sunday, April 11, look no further than Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and D.O.C. Wine Bar & Bistro in west suburban Lombard.

Gather friends and family for this ultimate communal dish, which originated in Switzerland in the 18th century. Cheese fondue gained popularity in the United States in the 1960s, and a new American entertaining option was born.

Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar and D.O.C. Wine Bar & Bistro will honor this tasty tradition with a special Fondue Trio offered at both restaurants on Sunday, April 11 during regular restaurant hours (3-9 p.m. at Frasca; noon-10 p.m. at D.O.C.). The dish will feature melted blue cheese, goat cheese and an Italian blend of Reggiano and Fontina cheeses, served with crostini, apples and sopressata for delicious dipping. The Fondue Trio is priced at $9 and can be accompanied by wine pairings for an additional $9.
