Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar Takes the Bite Out of Tax Day

You’ve signed on the dotted line and sent off your tax return once again. Now that you can check that grueling task off of your to-do list, it’s time to relax with an affordable dinner. Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar will offer guests a three-course menu featuring a choice of appetizer and entree and dessert, for just $15 (plus tax and gratuity) on Thursday, April 15. 

Zocalo’s tasty Tax Day menu highlights such favorite dishes as the restaurant’s famous, freshly made guacamole, a selection of four different types of tacos and vanilla-and-white chocolate flan. The full menu is outlined below.  

And because Tax Day falls on a Thursday this year, Zocalo’s regular “Dine at Nine” promotion will also be in effect, featuring half off all food items after 9 p.m. (must make a reservation and mention this offer), plus pitchers of Zocalo Margaritas frozen or on the rocks for $20, pitchers of Tropical Margaritas (Blood Orange, Prickly Pear, Passion-Mango and Blueberry) for $25, and the weekly World Music Thursdays event featuring global beats by resident DJs David Chavez and Mwelwa Musambacine from 6-11 p.m.

Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar’s Tax Day 2010 Menu

Appetizer (choice of): 

Guacamole Tradicional Freshly diced avocado mixed with tomatoes, red onion, cilantro and serrano chiles

Queso Fundido Norteño Chihuahua cheese melted over roasted poblano strips and homemade chorizo, served with warm flour tortillas

Sopa de Tortilla A rich vegetable broth flavored with pasilla chile and epazote, garnished with tortilla strips, avocado, cotija cheese and sour cream

Entrées (choice of):

Tacos de Cazuela Three of the following choices served with whole black beans, blue corn tortillas and salsas:
Barbacoa – Slowly braised guajillo chile-marinated beef
Cochinita Pibil – Slowly braised pork marinated in chiles and Yucatan spices
Tinga de Pollo – Shredded chicken simmered in a tomato-chipotle sauce

or Carnitas – Crispy duck confit with Ancho pepper-peanut salsa 

Enchiladas Suizas de Pollo Smoky chipotle chicken folded into three corn tortillas topped with melted Chihuahua cheese and a green tomatillo salsa, garnished with sour cream and served with Mexican rice and whole black beans

Pescado en Salsa Fresca Pan-seared tilapia fillet in a fresh dill and cucumber salsa served with poblano rice

Dessert

Flan Tradicional Mexican custard infused with vanilla bean and a hint of white chocolate
