News flash: St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated as St. Patrick’s Week at Timothy O’Toole’s, the friendly Streeterville pub known for its annual salute to St. Pat. From Thursday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 17, you’ll have the luck of the Irish on your side as O’Toole’s presents an array of food and drink specials, entertainment, contests and more for a full seven days of debauchery.

Kicking off on Thursday, March 11, guests will have their pick of drink specials, including $5 jumbo green beers and $5 shots of Jameson, which will be available through St. Patrick’s Day. A bevy of beads and other giveaways will also commence and continue through the week. The festivities keep rolling on Friday, March 12 with a real live leprechaun schmoozing the crowd and the first of many green beer chugging contests beginning at 8 p.m.

Make O’Toole’s your first and last stop during the 2010 Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will take place at noon on Saturday, March 13. The pub will open early (8 a.m.) to serve its famous weekend brunch (8 a.m.-2 p.m.), augmented by Irish specials to be offered throughout the day, including corned beef and cabbage. Two more green beer chugging contests are sure to entertain the crowd, one at 2 p.m. for the guys and one at 6 p.m. for women. Bag pipers will perform from 4-6 p.m., and Joe the Leprechaun will also return for another wee bit of fun.

From Sunday, March 14 through Tuesday, March 16, practice for the big day at Timothy O’Toole’s by testing out the Irish food and drink specials (brunch will also be served on Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.). Joe the Leprechaun will be back for command performances and the green beer chugging contests will continue Monday through Wednesday. The sound of live bag pipers will also set the Emerald Isle vibe from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, when St. Patrick’s Day finally arrives.

And, just because it’s St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t mean the Comedians You Should Know, Timothy O’Toole’s weekly stand-up showcase, gets to take a week off. The talented troupe of comics will host shows at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 17 featuring an all-Irish lineup in homage to St. Pat. Tickets to these special shows, which will feature Joe Kilgallon hosting local comedians Adam Burke, Sean Flannery, Brendan McGowan and CJ Sullivan, are $15 per person. For tickets and more information, visit www.comediansyoushouldknow.com.

Timothy O’Toole’s will be open Thursday, March 11 and Friday, March 12 from 11-3 a.m., Saturday, March 13 from 8-3 a.m., Sunday, March 14 from 10-3 a.m., Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16 from 11-3 a.m., and Wednesday, March 17 from 10-3 a.m.

Throughout the seven-day celebration, Timothy O’Toole’s will be accepting donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org). People making donations in the amount of $7 or more will receive a free T-shirt.
