Lounge open 5:30 p.m.-2 a.m.; Academy Awards presentation airs at 7 p.m.
No cost to attend
The mysteriously beautiful planet of Pandora and its inhabitants, the behemoth blue Na’vi, will serve as inspiration for Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club’s annual Academy Awards viewing party. Dubbed “The Land of Avatar” for the evening, the newly remodeled Kit Kat will don a cool blue hue to mimic the cerulean complexion of the lovely Neytiri and her people from the wildly popular movie “Avatar.” The groundbreaking film just happens to be nominated for an array of Academy Awards, including “Best Picture,” “Best Director” and “Best Visual Effects.”
The first 50 guests to walk Kit Kat’s blue carpet will receive a gift bag filled with blue boas and Hpnotiq giveaways, and Kit Kat Diva Aurora Sexton will play the role of the warrior princess Neytiri in special performances throughout the night. The “Avatar Princess” martini made with Effen vodka, Hpnotiq liqueur and a splash of pineapple juice and adorned with rock candy and a blue glow stick will also join the ranks of Kit Kat’s famous cocktails, which will all be offered at half price ($5) throughout the night.
The 82nd annual Academy Awards, which kick off at 7 p.m., will be aired via Kit Kat’s seven new state-of-the-art projection screens and sound system. You’ll definitely want to pay attention to the broadcast for Kit Kat’s Oscars ballot contest, which will award the astute movie fan with the most correct answers a grand prize worth $500, including an “Avatar” PlayStation 3 video game and a massive, Swarovski crystal-bedazzled Hpnotiq bottle.
