Every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, March 6 (special event with Goose Island)
Free to attend
Wicker Park’s Smoke Daddy is almost as well known (and loved) for its exemplary beer list as it is for its award-winning barbecue. And, on Tuesday evenings (as well as other special occasions), the laid-back restaurant really gets to show off its brews clues.
Each week from 7-9 p.m., Smoke Daddy hosts a beer tasting, highlighting new, rare and small-production brews created by esteemed brewers from across the country (as well as right in our own backyard). These tastings are free to attend and offer specials on pints of the featured beers ($6) and beer flights ($10).
Upcoming beer tastings at Smoke Daddy include the “Lips of Faith” series from New Belgium Brewing Company on March 2, a limited-release party for King Crimson Imperial Red Ale from Peak Organic Brewing Company on March 9, a special St. Patrick’s-themed tasting with Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s on March 16, and a Vanberg & DeWulf Belgian beer tasting on March 23. And, please note: Tuesdays at Smoke Daddy also feature $6 pulled meat nachos and live music at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, March 6, Smoke Daddy will team up with the Goose Island Brewpub for “Day & Night of the Living Ales,” the sixth annual celebration of cask-conditioned ales. Stop by Smoke Daddy before or after the event at Goose Island Wrigleyville (which will run in two sessions from 1-5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.), and be sure to wear your “Living Ales” T-shirt for a free appetizer.
Also, Chicago suds aficionados should stay tuned for details about Smoke Daddy’s special events taking place during the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America, which will be held from April 7-10 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Smoke Daddy will host a “Real Ale” tasting night on Tuesday, April 6 featuring a custom-crafted brew made especially for the restaurant by Two Brothers Brewing Company in west suburban Warrenville.
Smoke Daddy is open on Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 a.m.
