New Brew About to Be Tapped at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery

River North Microbrewery Encourages Hop Heads to “Drink Local”

The anticipation is brewing amongst Chicago suds lovers as Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is readying a new beer to debut at its next “Mug Club” monthly tapping party. On Thursday, February 18, award-winning Rock Bottom brewmaster Pete Crowley will introduce his Woolly Bear IPA, an original India Pale Ale.

From Crowley’s tasting notes: The Woolly Bear IPA is predicting a short, warm winter!  It’s an American-style India Pale Ale brewed and dry-hopped with Bravo, Chinook and Amarillo hops.  The initial hop bitterness gives way to an explosion of hop flavor, a firm malty middle and a finish of citrus and pine.  Aromas of orange, grapefruit and lemon burst from the glass.  At 7% ABV (alcohol by volume), it will warm you up on the coldest winter day.

The spirited tapping party will take place from 6-7 p.m., and Crowley will be on hand to discuss his latest creation with avid beer aficionados. Rock Bottom chef Christopher McCoy will also create a complimentary family-style dish to share and pair with the Woolly Bear IPA. 

Rock Bottom’s monthly tapping parties, along with lots of other insider events, are open to members of its “Mug Club.” Anyone over the age of 21 can join by signing up in person at Rock Bottom or at
