Timothy O’Toole’s award-winning chicken wings have legions of loyal fans. In fact, executive chef Sean O’Brien of the popular Streeterville and Gurnee pubs took home the prestigious “Best Hot Wing” honors at the 2009 Chicago’s Best WingFest tournament.
Now the fowl-loving faithful can prove their prowess by entering Timothy O’Toole’s weekly wing-eating contests, which will lead up to the 2010 Chicago’s Best WingFest, taking place on Sunday, February 28. The Streeterville pub’s wing-eating contests commence at 6:30 p.m. every Friday through February 26. Each week’s winner (essentially the first person to polish off 10 extra spicy wings) receives a $15 bar tab, plus a chance to compete in the finale for two tickets to Chicago’s Best WingFest. There is no entry fee to compete.
Then, on the big day, you can join fellow fowl fans on the journey to wing-eating nirvana. Both the Streeterville and Gurnee Timothy O’Toole’s locations will be offering party buses to make the trek to the 11th annual Chicago’s Best WingFest, which takes place at Bailey Auditorium in the West Loop (1340 W. Washington Blvd.), beginning at 1 p.m. Timothy O’Toole’s will be a contender in the heated competition, which will feature 20 Chicago restaurants vying for top honors in the Mild, BBQ, Exotic and Hot categories.
Timothy O’Toole’s WingFest bashes include round-trip transportation to the event with beverages on the bus, as well as an O’Toole’s T-shirt and entrance to WingFest (admission to the event is usually $24 per person and includes all-you-can-eat wings, live blues entertainment and an array of giveaways).
Tickets are $40 from the downtown location ($30 without the T-shirt) and $35 from Gurnee. You can purchase your Timothy O’Toole’s Chicago’s Best WingFest tickets at http://timothyotooles.com/store/index.html.
