New Brews on Tap at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery

Two “Tapping Parties” Introduce Wheat Ale and Abbey Dubbel Beers

To kick off 2010 in grand style, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery will host two “tapping parties” to debut new brews. On Thursday, January 14, award-winning Rock Bottom brewmaster Pete Crowley will introduce “My Sweet” Cherry Wheat, a wheat ale brewed with 160 gallons of dark sweet cherry juice. (Sweet side note: “My Sweet” Cherry Wheat was inspired by two loyal Rock Bottom patrons who recently tied the knot.)

On Thursday, January 28, Crowley will tap into Drunken Angel Abbey Dubbel, a fun new brew that’s already won a bronze medal at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival. This trappist-style abbey dubbel features aromas of fruit and spice and is fermented with raisins and molasses.

Both tapping parties take place from 6-7 p.m., and Crowley will be on hand to discuss the new brews. Rock Bottom chef Christopher McCoy will create a family-style dish to pair with “My Sweet” Cherry Wheat on January 14 and Drunken Angel Abbey Dubbel on January 28.

Rock Bottom’s monthly tapping parties, along with lots of other insider events, are open to members of its “Mug Club.” There is no cost to join, and anyone over 21 can be a member by signing up in person at Rock Bottom.
