Bring Your Own Bubbly to Pair With Mexican-French Fusion Cuisine

Sabor Saveur is commemorating 2009 (the Wicker Park Mexican-French fusion restaurant opened its doors in October) and ushering in 2010 with a flavorful New Year’s Eve celebration on Thursday, Dec. 31.

The restaurant will offer two dinner seatings (6 p.m. and 9 p.m.), both featuring a festive five-course menu with a choice of entrees for $75 per person (excluding tax and gratuity). Chef Yanitzin Sanchez will showcase her culinary flair with such dishes as a Saint Jacques scallop as a starter and an entree of black cod al pibil. The full New Year’s Eve menu is outlined below.

Making this soiree an even more affordable New Year’s Eve option is Sabor Saveur’s BYOB policy, so be sure to bring your own bubbly to this special celebration.

Soup: Chipotle and potato smooth cream soup with mussels custard

Salad: Mixed greens, grapes, pears and nuts dressed with Roquefort sauce

Appetizer: Saint Jacques scallop with red onion jam, avocado cream and a caramel ribbon

Entree (a choice of): Black cod al pibil wrapped in a banana leaf with pomegranate caviar served with black olives

Stuffed lamb loin with huitlacoche, pumpkin flower and requeson served with mushrooms, epazote-fried jicama and jamaica sauce

Vegetarian chile poblano stuffed with grapes and queso fresco bathed in Nogada sauce

Dessert: Margarita parfait served with a lemon reduction infused with tequila
