National Beer Can Appreciation Day at Timothy O’Toole’s Pub

If you think the best beers are in bottles, think again. Tuesday, January 24 marks the 77th birthday of canned beer and is now noted as “National Beer Can Appreciation Day.” Brews sold and served in aluminum cans first debuted on January 24, 1935.

At Timothy O’Toole’s Pub, guests “can” enjoy Miller High Life, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller Lite and Hamm’s in the can for $2, as well as Budweiser (Chicago) and Pabst Blue Ribbon (Gurnee). Don’t struggle with trading your pint glass for a can – just think of it as a mini keg and tap up!

National Beer Can Appreciation Day will be celebrated from 11 – 3 a.m. at the downtown Chicago location and 11 – 1 a.m. at the Gurnee location.

Pumpkin Carving Contest and Karaoke Costume Party

Timothy O’Toole’s Pub in Streeterville will kick-off the Halloween holiday with their sixth annual pumpkin carving contest on Friday, October 21. Beginning at 7 p.m., competing carvers may enjoy $10 pitchers of Miller Lite and $4.50 Absolut cocktails while preparing their ghostly gourd. O’Toole’s will provide the pumpkins and carving materials, while carvers simply come with creative ideas. Prizes (and bragging rights) will be awarded to the top pumpkin creators. This event is free to attend.

The following weekend, on Saturday, October 29, Timothy O’Toole’s will hold their annual Halloween Karaoke Costume Party, complete with a $200 cash prize for the best dressed guest (judging takes place at midnight). In addition to checking out all the costumes, guests are encouraged to select a song and grab the mic for the karaoke party that starts at 10 p.m. Saturday’s drink specials include $4 Miller Lite and Coors Light stadium cups. This event is free to attend.

Two-Day Charity Auction to Benefit St. Jude’s Research Hospital

Timothy O’Toole’s Pub Hopes to Raise Over $13,000

Dine, drink and donate at Timothy O’Toole’s Pub where it is “St. Jude’s month.” Through a variety of donating opportunities and two special events, having lunch, dinner or after-work drinks is an enjoyable time to easily give to those in need.

O’Toole’s two major donation days are Friday, October 14 and Friday, October 28. On both of those dates, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., dining and bar guests may place auction bids on a range of Chicago sports items. The silent auction will offer tickets to Chicago Bears, Bulls and Blackhawk games; autographed footballs and jerseys; grills and patio items; beer for one year; foozball tables; apparel; among other items.

Throughout the month, $1 St. Jude donations will be collected, in addition to “blank” forms. In addition, Timothy O’Toole’s will donate $1 from every Coors light pint ($3 each) and Blue Moon pint ($5 each) sold during the month of October.

Last year, the restaurant and sports bar raised over $15,000 and was awarded for being one of the top fundraising accounts in the nation. This year, they have decided their goal is to surpass a $13,000 donation.

To get involved, come by anytime during the silent auctions to place a bid, or stop by and donate just a dollar – every dollar helps.

The half-way point to March’s main event, St. Patrick’s Day, is approaching. Pairing the Perfect Football Fare

Chef Corey Grupe will lead a “Tailgating 101″ class at Timothy O’Toole’s Pub on Thursday, September 8. Just in time for football season (Bears play the Falcons at home that Sunday), participants will learn to pair food and drink that’s perfect for pre-game parties. Each of the dishes and paired drinks will be discussed and tasted, while a few will be demonstrated live by Grupe. The class agenda is outlined below.

Recipe cards will be distributed and tailgating-theme prizes will be raffled off. The class will begin at 7 p.m. The cost to attend is $20 per guest. Please call O’Toole’s for reservations.

Chicago “Bears Bus” Schedule Starts August 13

All Bears Home Game Days

Chicago Bears ticketholders: for all home games, including pre-season,Timothy O’Toole’s “Bears Bus” will be available to transport you to and from Soldier Field.  The Miller Lite Monster’s of the Midway shuttle bus leaves Timothy O’Toole’s Pub in Streeterville one hour and fifteen minutes before kick-off.  A $10 fee includes beverages on the bus.

Pre and post-game dining is available, including weekend brunch with bottomless mimosa bar ($16), bottomless bloody mary buffet ($20), lunch, dinner and late night eats.

Please call Timothy O’Toole’s Pub for shuttle seat reservations. Reservations are recommended, but not required for transportation.

Sunday’s specials include Miller/Coors family buckets (5 beers) for $16 and Jack Daniels/Jack Daniels Honey cocktails for $5. No game ticket? O’Toole’s has over 60 large screen televisions that will tune in to cheer on Chicago’s blue and orange.

There’s no better way to gear up for the Divisional Playoffs than with an 11 hour sports radio broadcast with Chicago’s 670 The Score. This event, taking place at Timothy O’Toole’s Pub from 9:00am to 10:00pm on Friday, January 14, will be hosted by personalities Danny Mac, Boers & Bernstein and Laurence Holmes.

Brunch service will begin at 8:00am and will offer all-you-care-to-enjoy mimosas/bellinis ($16) and a bloody mary bar (30 ingredients $7.50) through 12:00pm. Lunch and dinner service will follow as the live remote takes place into the evening. Table reservations are available, but not required. Friday’s specials include $10 pitchers of Miller Lite or Coors Light, $4.50 Absolut Lemonades (original, beery acai, citron or mandarin) and Chips, Salsa and Guacamole platters for $6.49.

Prizes and giveaways will be awarded throughout the day, with the grand prize being a day spent with three of the ever-popular 1985 Chicago Bears.

Got playoff game tickets? Hop on the shuttle bus to Soldier Field on Sunday, January 16. Timothy O’Toole’s is open for Brunch at 9:00am and the bus departs at 10:45am. The fee is $10 and includes round-trip transportation and beer. Reservations are recommended. No tickets?
