Chef Quackenbush’s Unlimited Menu Offers Guests Many Reasons to be Thankful

ZED451 and Executive Chef Patrick Quackenbush will welcome dining guests for a true culinary exploration this Thanksgiving Day. From 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, the Autumn Harvest Tables will feature an array of salads, composed vegetables and charcuterie selection with artisan cheeses and house-made breads. Thanksgiving Day diners will sit back and relax as ZED451′s team of chefs deliver a wide selection of beef, fish and poultry table side, each of which has been slow roasted over hardwood charcoal. The menu will also include traditional Thanksgiving dishes, such as roasted turkey, bourbon glazed ham, pumpkin soup, corn bread stuffing, sweet potato souffle and creamed green beans. Be sure to save room for dessert, as pastry chef Kate Milashus will prepare a special cranberry upside down cake with homemade butter pecan ice cream ($10), in addition to other sweet treats.

ZED451 specializes in group dining, handling everything from dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) to late arrivals with ease. Please call the restaurant for table reservations (recommended, not required).

Give and Get This Thanksgiving at Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club

Half-Price Dinner and Drinks with Canned Good Donation

This Thanksgiving, Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club will extend a 50-percent discount to dining and lounge guests that donate one or more canned goods and/or nonperishable food items (tip: Whole Foods is conveniently located across the street). All the canned goods and nonperishable food items that are collected will be donated to local charity Vital Bridges, in support of their “Harvest for Hope” community food drive.

Executive Chef Mark Kasper has crafted a special Thanksgiving prix fixe menu, complete with appetizer, entree and martini, for only $15 with canned good donation ($30 without donation).

Kit Kat’s luscious libations are also included in the 50-percent discount. Kit Kat’s newest Diva, Kinley Preston, will entertain Thanksgiving guests starting at 7:30 p.m. The restaurant and lounge is open until 2 a.m.

Timothy O’Toole’s Second Annual Turkey Testicle Festival kicks off at 9:00 p.m. on Black Wednesday, November 23. The winner of the Turkey Testicle Eating Contest will receive a whole frozen turkey to prepare for their own Thanksgiving Day feast. For those who are less daring, but still willing to compete, the pub will hold a Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest at 11:00 p.m., with the winner receiving a $25 gift certificate.

Chef Corey Grupe has prepared a bevy of appropriately themed menu specials, including a “bucket of balls” (deep fried turkey testicles with your choice of dipping sauce), an open faced hot turkey sandwich, turkey panini and slices of pumpkin pie. Complete menu specials are outlined below.

Black Wednesday’s drink specials include $4 Jameson shots, $2 Miller Lite and Coors Light pints and half-price Guinness “Blacklist” drafts. The spirit of competition will continue throughout the evening, as all guest are welcome to enjoy complimentary pool, darts, jumbo jenga and board games.

The Chicago Firehouse has two options for a warm and hearty Thanksgiving meal:

The first is a day-long holiday buffet that will run from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 24. Chef Kendal Duque’s menu includes a bevy of items, from breakfast dishes, salads and seafood to meats, side dishes and desserts. The buffet menu is outlined below. A kids’ table will be available for little pilgrims. The fee is $45.99 for adults and $19.99 for children 5-12. 18-percent gratuity will be added. Reservations can be made by calling 312.786.1401 or online at opentable.com.

The second option is to enjoy Chef Duque’s delights in your own home. The Chicago Firehouse offers “Thanksgiving To-Go,” a fully-cooked dinner that serves six to eight people. The menu includes Whole Slow-Roasted Turkey (12 to 14 lbs.) with Giblet Gravy; Field Greens with Sherry Vinaigrette, Blue Cheese and Spicy Candied Pecans; Fresh Sage Bread Stuffing; Whipped Garlic Potatoes and Maple Sweet Potatoes; Fresh Fall Vegetable Medley; Cranberry Relish and Whole Pumpkin Pie. The price is $175, plus tax. Place orders by Noon on Monday, November 21 (312.786.1401). Pick-up orders on Wednesday, November 23 or Thursday, November 24 (9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.).

Gather your group of friends and family this Thanksgiving Day for an elaborate buffet. The Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort will hold a lavish, seasonal spread that incorporates hearty Fall fare and familiar holiday favorites. A separate children’s height buffet table will offer little ones exactly what they’re looking for – macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders and curly fries.

Highlights of Executive Chef Carol Buckantz’s Thanksgiving Day Buffet include the harvest salad, roasted butternut squash bisque, Jonah crab claws, turkey carving station, pesto-crusted salmon and bananas foster/cherries jubilee dessert station (complete menu outlined below). The holiday buffet will be served on Thursday, November 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee is $36.95 for adults, $15.95 for children 5-12 and children 4 or under dine for free. Paired wines by the glass or bottle will be available for purchase to compliment the mid-day meal.
