Are you ready for some football? On Sunday, February 5, both Timothy O’Toole’s Pubs (City/Streeterville and Suburbs/Gurnee) will hold an action-packed, Super Bowl 46 viewing party. While the New York Giants battle the New England Patriots, guests may partake in either of the following events:

This December, Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar is holding back-to-back Don Julio tequila events.

On Monday, December 12, Zocalo will host a three-course, Don Julio-themed tequila dinner (menu listed below) featuring authentic Mexican cuisine and tequila pairings. The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dinner at 7:00 p.m. The event, led by a representative from Don Julio, includes an open bar of Zocalo margaritas, beer and wine. The fee to attend is $45 per guest, plus tax and gratuity. Limited seating is available. Please call Zocalo to reserve a place in the Don Julio dinner.

The following day, Tuesday, December 13, Zocalo will host its monthly tequila tasting from 6:30-8 p.m.  Led by Zocalo’s resident tequila ambassador, Victor Baheza, the Don Julio tasting will feature two specialty cocktails, passed appetizers, and a sampling of blanco, reposado and anejo tequila – all set to live Latin music. A raffle will be held for participants to win Zocalo gift cards and bottles of Don Julio tequila, complete with tequila locker service. The all-inclusive fee is $25 per person. Michael Diversey’s 201st Birthday Party

Michael Diversey’s Tavern Celebrates Chicago Pioneer and Namesake

Michael Diversey’s Tavern, located on Diversey Avenue in the heart of Lakeview, will celebrate the 201st birthday of their namesake and Chicago pioneer, Michael Diversey. Michael Diversey (born December 10, 1810) was a dairy man, brewer, philanthropist and alderman that started Lill & Diversey Brewery in 1841, widely known as The Chicago Brewery.

Michael Diversey’s Tavern, the only bar dedicated to him, will honor the Chicagoan with a party that starts on Friday, December 9 at 9 p.m. and will continue until 2 a.m. (while officially noting his actual birthday with a complimentary champagne toast at Midnight). The birthday bash will feature a bevy of products that stem from the local community, including Goose Island Matilda drafts for $6.50 and pints of rare-to-find Great Lakes Christmas Ale for $6. Complimentary, custom-made Goose Island Matilda-infused SWIRLZ mini cupcakes will be distributed at 9 p.m. (available while supplies last). Live music will be provided by popular, local musicians “Dave & Dave” beginning at 10 p.m (sets run through 1:30 a.m.). Those seeking non-beer libations  may enjoy Ketel One cocktails for only $5.

A true birthday party wouldn’t be complete without presents! Michael Diversey’s will also hold a raffle for autographed items from the Chicago Blackhawks, with all proceeds going to official Blackhawks Charities.

Wine Tasting: Sip and Swirl for Charity at Michael Diversey’s Tavern

Fun, Philanthropic Event Benefits GiGi’s Playhouse

Michael Diversey’s Tavern will host a fun and philanthropic wine tasting on Wednesday, November 9. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to sample dozens of superb wines (those found on the daily wine list along with exclusive, high-end options). Michael Diversey’s will provide complimentary light hors d’oeurves and a raffle will be held for Blackhawks tickets and bottles of wine. The fee to sip and swirl reds, whites and sparklings is a $20 donation. 100-percent of the proceeds will benefit GiGi’s Playhouse.

In addition to simply sampling the worldy wines, bottles (and cases) of the night’s tastings will be available for purchase at extremely discounted prices (minimum purchase, 3 bottles). This is a terrific opportunity for pre-holiday, entertaining orders.

GiGi’s Playhouse increases positive awareness of Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. Their “I have a voice” campaign seeks to change outdated perceptions and replace those images with beautiful, thought provoking, intelligent images. GiGi’s Playhouse is committed to the important mission of spreading accurate information about Down syndrome through education. There are multiple Down syndrome awareness centers located throughout the Chicagoland area.
