With a 26.2 mile run facing this year’s Chicago Marathon racers, fueling up is a necessity. Carbs are the perfect choice as they slowly release the energy needed to run from the Loop to Lakeview, down to 35th and back. Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar will hold a “Carb Cram” which offers Marathon participants and friends half-price platters of pasta from 3:00pm to 11:00pm the night before the run (must mention offer). Seasonal selections include:
Spaghetti Pomodoro fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil in a light pomodoro sauce $13/$6.50 with offer
Farfalle Prima Vera zucchini, squash, carrots, roasted peppers, basil pesto and white wine tossed with butterfly pasta $14/$7 with offer
Papardelle fresh egg noodles sauteed in a braised veal ragu, finished with herbed goat cheese $15/$7.50 with offer
Linguini with Peas and Prosciutto crispy prosciutto, garden peas, fresh herbs tossed in a garlic cream sauce $15/$7.50 with offer
Rigatoni sauteed with fennel sausage, peas and a light tomato cream sauce $14/$7 with offer
After all that healthy training, race runners will certainly deserve a “cold one.” On the day of the race, Marathoners are encouraged to re-fuel at Dunlays on Clark (which just so happens to be on the race route) for “Bibs for Beers.” With any purchase, present your numbered bib for a complimentary draught of beer. On tap will be Guinness, Sam Adams Boston Lager, Dunlays on Clark Ale, Sam Adams Octoberfest and Bells Oberon.
