Ring in the New Year with Stories, Champagne, and Live Music

Bring 2009 to a momentous close and create some instant memories for 2010 with a New Year’s Eve soiree at Red Kiva featuring 2nd Story, a hybrid performance event combining storytelling, champagne and music. This second annual New Year’s Eve bash will feature raconteurs from 2nd Story premiering four tales written especially for the occasion. Live music from local band “Seeking Wonderland” will also help ring in the new year from 10pm until 12:30am.
A champagne toast and midnight countdown, snacks and dessert bar are all included in the ticket price. Cocktails and flatbread pizzas will be available for purchase throughout the night.
Themed champagne cocktails ($10 each) inspired by the evening’s stories include:
Take the Plunge: Champagne, Woodford Reserve Bourbon, sweet vermouth, triple sec and a dash of bitters
The Resolution: Champagne, Chambord, Cointreau, brandy and orange juice
Ghost Convent: Champagne and Pama pomegranate juice
First Kiss: Champagne, Campari, a sugar cube and a dash of bitters
Storytellers Khanisha Foster, Larry Kerns, Julie Ganey and Deb Lewis, led by musical director Mikhail Fiksel, accompanied by Seeking Wonderland, and directed by Megan Shuchman, will regale the crowd with their tales starting at 10:30pm. Intermittingly during the course of the festivities, the lights will dim, a spotlight will highlight a storyteller and their tale will be told, all in the hopes of sparking some of your own New Year’s narratives.
Doors open at 9:30pm and live music begins at 10pm. A DJ will spin from 12:30am-2am after the storytelling concludes at midnight.
